Reuters.com reports that Bolivia, as a support to zinc export efforts, intends to award contracts to build two zinc smelters in December, for which cost is estimated at $500m.

The story is quoted as saying:

“This is part of a strategic plan that aims to increase mining exports to $5 billion in five years,” he said, adding that the estimated investment of $500 million could vary according to the bids, which can be submitted until Dec. 13.”
