Platts reported Xstrata’s (LSE:XTA) nickel production for the third quarter of 2012 was in line with the year-earlier period, the Switzerland-based producer said Wednesday.
As quoted in the market news:
Total nickel production reached 26,691 mt in Q3, compared with 26,738 mt in Q3 2011, while for the first nine months of the year output was up 2% at 79,474 mt.
The year-to-date rise was driven by a 16% increase in nickel in ferronickel production to 11,123 mt from the Falcondo operation in the Dominican Republic following the restart of mining activities in February 2011 to 50% of installed capacity, Xstrata said.
