Fortescue December Quarter Iron Ore Production Up by 32%

Base Metals Investing Reuters reported that in the December quarter, Fortescue, the world’s fourth biggest iron ore miner, increased shipments by 32% as compared to the previous year and almost all were headed for Chinese steel mills.

Fortescue’s shipments climbed to 19.6 million tonnes in the three months to Dec. 31, 2012, from 14.8 million in the corresponding period a year ago, the company said, meeting analysts’ expectations.
