Collahuasi Copper Mine Declares Force Majeure After Port Accident in Chile

Base Metals Investing Bloomberg.com reports that, because of a recent accident in Anglo American Plc (PINK:AAUKY) and Xstrata Plc’s (LON:XTA) Collahuasi port, they have declared Force Majeure.

The story is quoted as saying:
Three workers died after a ship-loader at the port collapsed on Dec. 18. Collahuasi is evaluating the extent of the damage and time for repairs, Fernandez said. Force majeure is a legal clause invoked by companies when they can’t meet obligations because of circumstances beyond their control.
