PDAC is taking place this year from March 6 to 9 in Toronto, and there are plenty of events for investors to check out.
Held every March in Toronto, the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada conference, better known as PDAC, is the event of the year for mining companies and investors across the globe.
This year’s event takes place from March 6 to 9 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, and is expected to feature 725 booths in the Trade Show, 626 booths in the Investors Exchange and 504 speakers. Just over 23,500 people attended last year’s show, and with sentiment now more positive in the resource space, it’s possible that this year’s numbers may be stronger.
Those stats are impressive, and for first-time attendees — and even veterans — the sheer number of companies and events at PDAC can be overwhelming. With that in mind, the Investing News Network has put together a list of presentations and exhibits that may be worth attending. Read on to find out what’s going on at PDAC this year.
Talks and exhibits
Investors interested in hearing market watchers’ thoughts on the overall resource space will likely be most interested in Sunday’s Letter Writer Presentations for Investors. Talks will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in room 801, with speakers including many familiar names like Rick Rule (4:35 p.m.), David Morgan (3:20 p.m.), Chris Berry (2:55 p.m.), Brent Cook (2:30 p.m.), John Kaiser (10:20 a.m.), Mickey Fulp (9:55 a.m.) and Louis James (11:10 a.m.).
Those more keen on learning about the markets for specific commodities might do better to check out PDAC’s Technical Program, which will be held across various locations from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday morning. Notably, Monday afternoon will feature talks on diamonds (room 716), while Tuesday morning speakers will focus on zinc (room 716). On the energy side, Tuesday afternoon presentations will look at lithium (room 713) and Wednesday morning’s presenters will speak on uranium (room 713).
Which INN partners will be at PDAC? Find out here.
More adventurous investors might consider checking out the presentation from prospective asteroid miner Planetary Resources. It’s scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Monday, and will take place in room 701.
It’s also worth noting that this year PDAC will feature a number of new exhibits. Those include the De Beers Group of Companies Diamond Display (booth #6807N), the Royal Canadian Mint Display (booth #6801N) and the Tesla Model S Exhibit (booth #3321). Additionally, attendees may be interested in watching the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange open and close the market (booth #2917).
Finally, it would be remiss not to mention the networking events that take place during PDAC. While many companies will be hosting invite-only parties and events, there are also plenty that are promoted by PDAC itself. Take a look here for a taste of what’s going on.
