Did you miss the first day of this year’s International Mining Investment Conference? Here are some highlights.

The first day of this year’s International Mining Investment Conference (IMIC) is now done, and for the Investing News Network it was a busy one.

There was no shortage of industry experts and company CEOs to talk to, and of course there were presentations and panels to take in as well.

If you weren’t able to make it to the event (or if you simply weren’t able to see everything that was on offer), don’t worry — here’s a quick look at what’s been going on at IMIC.

The first panel of the day featured Brent Cook of Exploration Insights, David Morgan of the Morgan Report, David Erfle of JuniorMinerJunky, Kai Hoffman of Oreninc and Nick Hodge of the Outsider Club. The experts shared their top stock picks from companies at the show.

Another morning highlight was a presentation by Cook, an economic geologist and mining expert. He shared gold market insight and due diligence tips with investors.

Also in the morning, Benj Gallander of Contra the Heard told audience members how to profit via commodities this year.

Another morning presentation featured Cory Fleck of the Korelin Economics Report. He talked about what market breakouts investors should watch out for in 2018.

Peter Schiff of Euro Pacific Capital also gave a presentation at IMIC, discussing the new generation of gold ownership. He also touched on the differences between gold and bitcoin.

Another presentation focusing on gold featured Mercenary Geologist Mickey Fulp, who explored whether a new breakout in gold will happen any time soon.

In the afternoon, Steve Yuzpe, president and CEO of Sprott Resource Holdings, gave a presentation about copper and the future for the base metal.

Another high point of the day was an energy outlook panel moderated by Jay Roberge and featuring Gianni Kovacevic of CopperBank Resources (CSE:CBK), Simon Moores of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence and Chris Parry of Equity Guru.

Later in the day, Hodge moderated a uranium showcase that included Chris Frostad of Purepoint Uranium (TSXV:PTU) and Warren Stanyer of ALX Uranium (TSXV:AL).

The last panel of the day was moderated by Jay Martin of Cambridge House and featured Parry, Jason Hamlin of Gold Stock Bull and Jayant Bhandari. The analysts discussed where they are putting their cash, and where they see risks and rewards.

The Investing News Network was busy conducting video interviews at booth 815. Day one interviewees included: Kovacevic, Erfle, Yuzpe, Andrew Pollard of Mining Recruitment Group and Rob Furhman of Katusa Research, among others. Interviews will be posted over the next week or so, so stay tuned!
