Lithium Australia Extends Vertical Integration of Disruptive Battery Technologies

Lithium Australia NL (ASX:LIT) developer of disruptive lithium processing technology, has completed its due diligence for the acquisition of advanced cathode material producer, the Very Small Particle Company (VSPC). Completion of the transaction remains subject to regulatory approval, including shareholder approval.
Lithium Australia (ASX:LIT) has positively evaluated the cathode production technology of the Very Small Particle Company (VSPC), as announced on 23 October 2017. This paves the way for the first integrated process designed to remove lithium micas from mine waste and refine them to produce cathode nanopowders, the control system of the lithium-ion battery (LIB).
The fusion of VSPC technology and advanced extraction systems such as LIT’s 100%-owned SiLeach® process has the potential to reduce the number of stages required to generate the most advanced cathode materials, thereby exposing LIT to a significant value-adding step in the production of LIBs.
