MetalBulletin reported that if prices for cobalt metal remain under $13 per pound, Chinese buyers will likely switch to metal from concentrate.

As quoted in the market news:

This switch to metal has happened in the past, and could happen at the current price levels, according to Metal Bulletin sources.  Cobalt prices fell to their lowest level in nearly four years in December 2012, and while prices have risen slightly since, rallies have been shortlived.  In stark contrast to the April 2008 levels of close to $50 per lb, low-grade prices have struggled to breach $12 per lb so far in 2013.
