A brief overview of cobalt price developments, supply and demand, and significant market movers.
Western cobalt prices traded lower in July so far compared to June, data from Metal-Pages shows. Cobalt 99.3 percent averaged $12.32 per pound on the low side and $12.86 per pound on the high side until July 24, compared with an average low of $13.09 per pound and a high of $13.94 per pound in May.
Cobalt 99.6 percent showed the same average price as 99.3 percent for June and July. Cobalt 99.8 percent, used for aerospace applications, averaged $12.99 a pound on the low side and $13.53 a pound on the high side until July 24. That was below the June average low of $13.80 a pound and high of $14.63 a pound.
On the London Metal Exchange, cobalt prices for a three-month buyer have fallen in July from just above $29,000 a tonne early in the month to just above $27,000 a tonne on July 24.
