A brief overview of cobalt price developments, supply and demand and significant market movers.
Western cobalt prices have seen mixed trading in August so far compared to July, data from Metal-Pages shows.
99.6 percent cobalt averaged $12.08 per pound on the low side and $13.25 per pound on the high side until August 21, compared with an average low of $12.29 per pound and a high of $12.92 per pound in July.
99.8 percent cobalt, used for aerospace applications, averaged $12.20 a pound on the low side and $13.50 a pound on the high side until August 21, compared with the July average low of $12.81 a pound and high of $13.46 a pound.
Prices for Chinese cobalt, minimum 99.8 percent electrolytic metal, fell in July, averaging 204 yuan (US$32.11) a kilogram on the low side and 206 yuan ($32.43) a kilogram on the high side until August 21. In July, prices averaged 208.22 yuan ($32.78) a kilogram on the low side and 211.78 yuan ($33.34) a kilogram on the high side.
