Japan Rebuilding Tipped to Boost Zinc Demand

ABC News reported that according to the Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics (BREE), global zinc consumption will surge 5 per cent in 2012 to 14.1 million tonnes.

As quoted in the market news:

BREE says the increase is partly due to the massive reconstruction effort underway in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami in March.
