Metal Bulletin reported that in today’s official London Metal Exchange (LME) session, nickel hit $18,000 per tonne for the first time since February 2013.

As quoted in the market news:

Nickel prices have been rising this week on tightness caused by Chinese financing and the Indonesian ore export ban, with occasional bouts of profit-taking interrupting the rally. Three-month nickel settled at $17,950/18,000 per tonne, after opening at $17,859. The alloying metal last settled above $18,000 per tonne in February 2013.
