ABC News reports that a proposal by Venture Minerals (ASX:VMS) to build an iron ore mine in Tasmania’s Tarkine region has cleared an environmental hurdle.

As quoted in the market news:

Venture is expected to ship more than a million tonnes of iron ore through the Burnie port from the mine, tripling bulk mineral exports from the north-west.

The Riley mine is one of two smaller projects the company wants to build to help finance its flagship Mount Lindsay tin and tungsten project.
