Fortescue Halts Pilbara Mining After Worker Killed

Bloomberg.com reports that Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG) has suspeneded work at Cloudbreak operations in Western Australia, following the death of a miner.

The story is quoted as saying:

Fortescue is spending $8.4 billion expanding its operations in the Pilbara region to almost triple output. The project will boost annual capacity to 155 million metric tons from 55 million tons. The expansion will include the building of a new mining hub, constructing 550 kilometers (342 miles) of railroad and expanding port facilities at Port Hedland.
