Three-month LME copper prices fell 0.36 percent to $6,002.50, according to Reuters. The drop was partially related to news that China, the world’s largest copper consumer, would shift to new, low-voltage cable standards, BusinessWorld reported. The new cabling is likely to use aluminum alloys rather than the traditional copper. The standards will be enacted on September 1.

Comex copper for July rose 0.64 percent to $2.738 a pound, according to MarketWatch.
