Copper prices rose July 31 with a number of factors impacting the metal. Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange was up to $6,804 a tonne today, after falling 2 percent the previous session to $6,735 an ounce, Reuters reported.

Month-end buying and high demand from top copper consumer China boosted copper prices. Yet, prices did not reach higher today as investors remain cautious, awaiting the announcement from the U.S. Federal Reserve on its bond purchase program.

In New York, copper futures for September delivery were at $3.103 a pound, Kitco reported.
