Gogo (NASDAQ:GOGO) on Wednesday announced the installation of 477 net aircraft with satellite technology during 2018 and thereby ending the year with 1,296 aircraft installed with its inflight connectivity (IFC).
The company focused on providing broadband connectivity products and services for aviation said that it was the second year that in which Gogo has installed satellite IFC on over 450 aircraft.
As quoted in the press release:
As of December 31, 2018, Gogo announced that it had:
- 1,007 aircraft installed and activated with 2Ku technology (categorized as Aircraft Online, or “AOL”);
- 252 aircraft installed and activated with Ku technology (categorized as AOL);
- 37 aircraft have been installed with 2Ku technology but not yet recorded as AOL;
- Approximately 1,000 2Ku aircraft in backlog
“The shift of our global installed fleet to satellite IFC technology combined with our 2Ku availability of approximately 98%, continues to improve our customer’s inflight Wi-Fi experience,” said Oakleigh Thorne, President and CEO of Gogo.
“I am proud of the dedication and high standard of excellence of our engineering teams in solidifying Gogo as a global leader in satellite IFC technology.”
Gogo designs and source innovative network solutions that connect aircraft to the Internet, and develop software and platforms that enable customizable solutions for aviation partners.
