Hitachi (TSE:6501) subsidiary Hitachi Data Systems and ViON Corporation announced today that they are moving into a new phase of their 35-year, $1-billion partnership. The companies plan to extend their focus on high-end storage solutions for public sector customers and the U.S. federal government, to include Social Innovation and big data analytics across industry sectors.
According to the press release:

Now more than ever, law enforcement, emergency management, and public sector personnel require an end-to-end solution that can capture, manage and enable real-time analysis of information from many disparate systems, assets and sensors. Fitting well into the ViON portfolio, Hitachi Visualization integrates data from video cameras, sensors, emergency dispatch and social media to provide situational awareness via a unified, fully integrated platform. The solution helps customers to push select data streams to operator workstations and make valuable data accessible to personnel in the field, while ensuring real-time visibility and enhanced situational awareness during high-priority events.

Mike Walkey, senior vice president, Global Partner Organization at Hitachi Data Systems, said:

Over the last 35 years, the ViON partnership has been an instrumental part of our success, particularly in the federal government and public sector markets. Now, as the industry transforms, and new trends and requirements emerge, we must transform and expand our partnership to address new avenues and new customer demands like Social Innovation and big data analytics.
