Calix (NYSE:CALX) announced that it has expanded its lineup of Calix ConneXions 2018 with co-hosted workshops from Utilities Technology Council (UTC) and Mountain Connect.

The company said that these events allow ConneXions attendees to benefit from expanded perspectives delivered by leading industry organizations.

As quoted in the press release:

UTC will host its fall workshop, the Utilities Broadband Conference to continue to assist utilities with developing comprehensive broadband deployment strategies. In addition, Mountain Connect will extend the reach of its annual broadband development conference with the Smart City Symposium to educate leaders of municipalities on best practices for implementing Smart City technology and infrastructure.

“Calix ConneXions has established its place as one of the industry’s leading educational conferences and these new focused events allow us to share that experience with different types of broadband service providers,” said Matt Collins, Chief Marketing Officer at Calix. “Our partnerships with UTC and Mountain Connect will enable utility companies and municipal broadband operators to attend additional events tailored to their specific business objectives, while also attending our keynote presentations and breakout sessions to expose them to industry-wide innovations, trends, and networking opportunities. We are excited to extend the invitation to these companies and help them evolve their businesses and service offerings through the lessons to be learned at ConneXions.”

UTC is the trusted resource for its utilities members to deploy technologies and solutions that deliver secure, reliable, and affordable mission critical services. UTC committees focus on key areas of utility operations and growth strategies, including broadband services. The UTC workshop will host speakers like Jon Claffey from RUS and Jon Chambers, former Chief of the Office of Strategic Planning for the Federal Communications Commission. There will also be roundtable discussions on topics like funding, business best practices, and regulatory issues.

Mountain Connect will share lessons learned from real-world implementations in their Smart City Symposium. After hosting its leading municipal conference for eight years, Mountain Connect has the unique perspective to assist municipal broadband operators in their delivery of Smart City technologies. In the Symposium, attendees will also learn how to:

  • Improve constituent engagement, feedback, and touch points

  • Drive community sustainability through smart public safety and health care

  • Promote smart tourism

  • Leverage Smart Grid applications

  • Enable data gathering, security, privacy, and analytics
