APPtechnology Launches “Legacy” Offering Utilizing Glassware 2.0 from Sphere 3D

Sphere 3D (NASDAQ:ANY) has announced a new offering called “Legacy” to manage and migrate legacy applications using Glassware 2.0 and its framework features.
As quoted in the press release:

Many of today’s enterprises that still utilize legacy applications are often faced with no upgrade path for these legacy applications due to prohibitive redevelopment costs or vendor decommissioning of support.   With these same enterprises migrating to Windows 10, managing the end of life for business-critical legacy enterprise applications is a challenge for them.

The “Legacy by APPtechnology” offering can address this challenge by providing the following functionality to the enterprise:

• Provision of 64-bit as well as 16 bit and 32 bit applications to Windows 10 from a secure in support server
• Capability to deliver applications on all Windows, Android or iOS client devices, as well as on an HTML5 enabled device of choice, providing “BYOD” options to the workforce
• Applications operate in the same way as originally designed with no multiple logins, no RDP sessions, and no complex additional steps required
• Migration proof applications for the future:  If the user changes devices, for example  from Windows 7 to Windows 10, the application continues to operate with no need for redevelopment or re-testing
• Application end of life can extend, across multiple Device types and future OS releases, without the need for redevelopment
• Remove the security risks associated with running applications on an end-of-life OS i.e. Windows XP and Windows NT

The Legacy offering is designed to provide enterprises a turnkey solution for legacy application migrations that includes discovery, assessment, architecture, provisioning and pre/post implementation professional services and/or support.   It also can be hosted and provided as a service on premise, off-premise, in the cloud or as a hybrid solution.
