Edgewater Wireless Systems (TSXV:YFI) has launched the first ever Internet of Things (IOT) platform using its WiFi3™ technology. This enables IOT networks to handle data demand and capacity for hundreds of IOT devices.
As quoted in the press release:

IOTair™ is the first IOT connection point designed specifically to handle the 100s of devices that will dominate IOT network deployments. IOTair™ relies on WiFi3™ technology’s unique capabilities to address the challenges related to IOT beaconing, M2M communication and massive data aggregation. The issue of potentially 100s of connected IOT devices taking timeslots and disrupting from more data-demanding tablets and smart phones is dramatically improved with IOTair™. The new IOTair™ platform is backboned by WiFi3™ to deliver 3 (or more) concurrent channels of transmit and receive and enabling 100s of IOT devices on a single IOTair™ connection point.

Edgewater CEO, Andrew Skafel, said:

Edgewater Wireless is advancing wireless technology and we recognize the rapid evolution and growth of IOT and the demands it will place on the current, traditional wireless infrastructure to support the expected 25 billion connected IOT devices by 2020. IOTair™ with integrated WiFi3™ delivers high-capacity to manage the data demand of IOT within a high-density environment while mitigating the interference issues that impact large scale deployments. Over the last month we have engaged with and signed NDA’s with two of top five wireless equipment ‎makers in the world to discuss partnership opportunities for WiFi as well as IOT applications and products. We’re actively progressing these discussions today and the market interest in the capabilities for WiFi3™ technology and our patent portfolio is strong.”
