Top 5 Gainers on the TSXV Last Week
European Uranium Resources, Pacific Wildcat Resources, Tintina Resources, Ucore Rare Metals and Sandspring Resources were among the best-performing resource stocks on the TSX Venture for the week ended July 26.
European Uranium Resources (TSXV:EUU)
This uranium exploration and development company gained the most at 55.17 percent last week. Its trading volume was also heavy, with 310,673 shares changing hands.
European Uranium is backed by AREVA (EPA:AREVA), a prominent global nuclear power firm and primary participant in the uranium mining business. Its flagship Kuriskova project in Slovakia is one of the highest-grade uranium deposits in the world. An internal feasibility study found it could be one of the lowest-cost uranium producers in the world. Kuriskova has an indicated resource of 28.5 million pounds of U3O8.
Pacific Wildcat Resources (TSXV:PAW)
Last week, Pacific Wildcat Resources’ share price increased 40 percent on a moderate volume of 199,750 trades after it released an updated estimate for its resource at the Mrima Hill niobium and rare earth project in Kenya. The report confirms that the asset is one of the world’s highest-grade undeveloped niobium and rare earth deposits.
Pacific Wildcat is focused on the development of rare earth, tantalum and niobium projects in Africa. Mrima Hill is its primary property.
Tintina Resources (TSXV:TAU)
Based in Vancouver, Tintina Resources moved up 35.71 percent last week after updating the technical report and preliminary economic assessment for its Black Butte copper project, located in Montana. It announced that the property has estimated average annual payable copper production of 62.06 million pounds.
Black Butte is the company’s only project at this time, though it is generally focused on the exploration, development and mining of base and precious metals properties in North America.
Ucore Rare Metals (TSXV:UCU)
This rare metal resource company gained 29.63 percent last week at a high trading volume of 609,379 after announcing that it is beginning to develop the initial plan of operations for its Bokan-Dotson Ridge rare earth project in Southeast Alaska.
Ucore is currently in the development phase and has multiple projects across North America. However, its flagship asset is Bokan-Dotson Ridge. Its direct access to the ocean gives it a developmental advantage over other properties, according to the company’s website.
Sandspring Resources (TSXV:SSP)
Colorado-based Sandspring Resources increased 23.53 percent last week. It is receiving attention for its multimillion-ounce Toroparu gold-copper deposit, located in Northwestern Guyana; the project should achieve large-scale gold and copper production by 2015.
The asset was discovered in 2007, the company’s website states. Its recent prefeasibility study demonstrates a 2.6-year payback on initial capital. The report also notes that the property has a measured and indicated resource of 227,500,000 tonnes, including 6,510,000 ounces of gold.
Sandspring is focused on exploring and developing mineral properties in the Republic of Guyana, South America.
