As part of a feature on the world’s top five silver-producing countries, Kitco News posted a brief outline of silver mining in Mexico, the world’s biggest silver producer. Interestingly, much of the silver produced in the country is a by-product of other metals.

As quoted in the market news:

Goldcorp Inc.’s (TSX:G)(NYSE:GG) Peñasquito mine is primarily a gold mine that produced over 400,000 ounces of gold in 2013.

Primero Mining Corp.’s (TSX:P)(NYSE:PPP) San Dimas Mine is a fairly large gold producer and yet fits into the country’s top five silver mines.

Mexican silver supply has increased steadily over the last decade and the country is expected to continue to set the pace for global silver production in 2014
