The price of silver increased today after unchanged unemployment rates were released on Friday. Silver for September delivery rose by 1.8 percent, or $0.35, to reach $19.19 an ounce, Reuters reported. Spot silver was also up by $0.17, at $19.10 an ounce.

Despite data showing that US employers added 195,000 new jobs to non-farm payrolls last month, the unemployment rate held steady at 7.6 percent. This unchanged rate may indicate that the US Federal Reserve will continue its bond-buying stimulus instead of beginning to curb it starting in September.
