Silver May Draw Investors Because of its Relationship to Equity Markets
USA Today reported that silver could still be an attractive investment, particularly because of its relationship with the equity markets.
USA Today reported that silver could still be an attractive investment, particularly because of its relationship with the equity markets.
As quoted in the market report:
So if investors bought into precious metals, thinking they were somehow safer than stocks, that hypothesis was seriously flawed. Most investors don’t need silver. However, Winans suggests that a small stake in silver can make an ounce of sense given that it doesn’t typically move in lock step with the stock market. Silver has outperformed the S&P 500 on an annual basis about 43% of the time. Investors willing to endure the commodity’s volatility might consider silver on the basis that it could counter the swings in stocks.
