Like gold, silver prices rose today as growing tension over Syria sparked safe-haven demand for the precious metals, Bloomberg reported. Silver futures for December delivery increased $0.48, to $25.16 an ounce, a level not seen since April 15.

Trading today for silver nearly tripled compared to the average for the past 100 days, Bloomberg also said.

Silver prices are currently up about 27 percent after hitting a three-year low of $18.19 an ounce in late June, according to Investing.com.
