The Guardian reported that Lonmin Plc (LSE:LMI) saw two workers killed at its South African platinum mine in the latest development in wage disputes in that country. According to the Guardian, the workers were killed as they came to work, despite hopes from Lonmin that the lengthy strike would soon come to an end.
As quoted in the publication:
Lonmin took its wage offer directly to employees, sidestepping the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union in an attempt to resolve the dispute. It was anticipating a general return to work on Wednesday, and said a security plan was in place to allow this to happen.
