Lonrho Mining Limited (ASX:LOM) reported the recovery of a diamond weighing 53.25 carats from the Lulo Project in Angola.
As quoted in the press release:
The gem-quality diamond is by far the biggest diamond recovered by Lonrho since the Perth-based Company began treating diamond-bearing alluvial gravels through its Dense Media Separation (DMS) plant at Lulo last year. It is more than twice the size of the next biggest diamond recovered at Lulo, a 22.25 carat stone found in the BLK_02 bulk sample in November 2010.
