India’s Diamond Traders Ready Themselves for the Festive Season

Mineweb reports the rise in the cost of diamonds since last July has made diamond jewelry unaffordable for many Indian customers.

The market news is quoted as saying,

According to an investment banker, whose firm compiles data on the wholesale market, the value of polished diamonds of 5 carats or 1 gram, rose to about $150,000 a carat, up from about $100,000 to $120,000 a year ago.
