De Beers to Decide on R10bn Venetia Expansion Next Year

Mineweb reports De Beers will take a decision on the R10-billion underground expansion of the Venetia mine.

The market news is quoted as saying,

The underground expansion at Venetia, which is currently an opencast operation, would increase the operation’s life to 2046, from 2021.

In 2010, Venetia yielded 4.29-million carats from 4.04-million tons treated.
