William Stanley, a Republican who represents Pittsylvania County, home to a 119-million-pound uranium deposit that is fueling the debate; Patrick Wales, project manager for Virginia Uranium Inc., which wants to tap the radioactive ore; and Cale Jaffe, an attorney with the Southern Environmental Law Center, which opposes lifting the ban.
