Platts reported that according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), uranium production in the United States came to 1,171,278 pounds during the third quarter of 2013, an increase of almost 12 percent from the 1,048,018 pounds it put out in the year-ago quarter. It is also the highest Q3 total since 1999.

However, third-quarter 2013 production was down 16% from the 1,394,232 lb produced in the second quarter of 2013 and 2% above first-quarter production of 1,147,031 lb, EIA said.
Uranium was produced during the third quarter, as it was throughout 2012, at EFR White Mesa’s White Mesa uranium mill in Utah and five in-situ leach facilities — Crow Butte in Nebraska and Smith Ranch-Highland in Wyoming, which are operated by Cameco; Mestena Uranium’s Alta Mesa site in Texas; Texas Mining Venture’s Hobson/La Palangana assets in Texas; and Uranium One’s Willow Creek mine in Wyoming.
