ET reports on the newly discovered uranium deposits in Tumalapalli, Andhra Pradesh, India.
ET reports on the newly discovered uranium deposits in Tumalapalli, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The market news is quoted as saying:
The discovery will reduce reliance on foreign fuel supplies, but in no way takes the sheen off the Indo-US nuclear deal, which paved the way for India’s quasi-admittance to the nuclear club and its manifold possibilities to rev up energy, nuclear trade and access cutting-edge technology. The path-breaking deal seems to be facing temporary legalistic glitches; whose operational impediments should be overcome through diplomacy and bilateral deals. The deposits at Tumalapalli could amount to as much as 1.5 lakh tonnes, in which case it would become the largest uranium mine in the world.
