Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the controlled fire at Energy Resources of Australia’s (ASX:ERA) Ranger uranium mine has spread into Kakadu National Park and is threatening potentially thousands of ancient rock art sites.
As quoted in the market news:

One of Kakadu National Park’s most significant cultural sites, Nourlangie Rock, featuring Indigenous rock art showing early contact with Europeans, as well as other art up to 50,000 years old, has been closed to tourists for a second day.
To the east and north the fire is now threatening significant cultural sites in the Radon Springs area, Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) CEO Justin O’Brien said.
“We’re talking hundreds of galleries and thousands of images probably,” he said.
“This is also one of the most important cultural sites within the region. It’s quite serious.”
He said if the fire reached the rugged and waterless escarpment country, it would be far more difficult to extinguish.
