Keystone Pipeline: Energy Security or Environmental Disaster?

SF Gate reports that the proposed Keystone XL pipeline to transport oil from the Alberta tar sands to Texas refiners poses significant questions for America’s energy future.

The market news is quoted as saying:

The United States uses 11 million barrels of oil a day more than it produces domestically, although that is changing as new oil extraction techniques tap reserves in the Midwest and California. Even with advances in fuel efficiency though, U.S. oil consumption is flat, not diminishing.
