Bloomberg reported that Gazprom has billed Ukraine’s state-run energy company for $7 billion bill for failing to import their obligated natural-gas volumes in 2012.

As quoted in the market report:

The demand comes as Ukraine seeks to curb dependence on Russian fuel imports by sourcing gas from other producers and developing its own resources. Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA), Europe’s largest oil company, last week signed a deal to help develop Ukrainian shale.
