Bloomberg reports that Centrica Plc (LON:CNA)is planning to purchase gas assets in North America as supplies from shale formations surge.

The market news is quoted as saying:

Centrica, which owns the British Gas brand in the U.K., is looking to expand in the U.S. through its Direct Energy unit.
