HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA–(Marketwired – Aug. 2, 2016) – Ucore Rare Metals, Inc. (TSX VENTURE:UCU)(OTCQX:UURAF) (“Ucore” or the “Company”) announces with immense sadness the passing of Ken Collison, the Company’s Chief Operating Officer.
“Ken was a towering figure in the mine engineering industry,” said Jim McKenzie, President and CEO of Ucore. “His outstanding successes at Ucore, Coeur Alaska, Crandon Mining, and Blue Pearl Mining/Thompson Creek speak to the diversity of his accomplishments in developing best-of-breed mining and minerals processing facilities. During his tenure at Blue Pearl, he was integral to building one of North America’s premier molybdenum producers.”
“More recently at Ucore, Ken’s innovative outlook was instrumental to generating the Company’s process flowsheet for the Bokan-Dotson Ridge project, and in laying the foundation for the utilization of MRT processing across the technology metals space,” continued McKenzie. “Ken was a mentor, a respected colleague, a gentleman and a friend. His easy-going manner and his passion for the industry will be missed by all who had the pleasure to work with him.”
Ken’s duties with the Company will be shared by existing staff and consultants. Randy MacGillivray, Vice President Project Development will take full responsibility for the Bokan Mountain project, and Steven Izatt, President & CEO of the Company’s partner IBC Advanced Technologies, will lead the Company’s efforts with respect to the development of molecular recognition technology.
