Rare Earth Availability Key to Electronics Production in China

The Register reported that products like the iPad are in part manufactured in China because of closer proximity to rare earth supplies.

As quoted in the market news:

As the report suggests, manufacturing the device at or closer to the source of these rare minerals would circumvent China’s increasingly tight export quotas and cut costs pretty significantly.
