Arafura Resources Provides Update on Nolans Feasibility
Arafura Resources (ASX:ARU) provided an update on the progress of a feasibility work at its Nolans project. The company reported that final terms of reference for the project Environmental Impact Statement have been finalized by the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority.
Arafura Resources (ASX:ARU) provided an update on the progress of a feasibility work at its Nolans project. The company reported that final terms of reference for the project Environmental Impact Statement have been finalized by the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority.
As quoted in the press release:
The Company is pleased to advise that the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (“EPA”) has finalised and issued the Terms of Reference (“ToR”) for the Nolans Project Environmental Impact Statement (“EIS”). This followed a period of public review of the draft ToR during the first half of May. Finalising the ToR is a further important milestone on the path to securing regulatory approvals to build and operate the Nolans Project and in earning the Company’s social licence to operate. The ToR for the Nolans Project is available on the EPA’s website.
Receipt of the ToR allows the Company’s EIS consultants to recalibrate the scope of the EIS studies against these guidelines so that all impact aspects of the Project are fully addressed in the EIS. Work is continuing on a number of baseline studies at the Nolans Site including biodiversity, groundwater, emissions and archaeology. Engagement activities with key stakeholder groups in Central Australia commenced earlier this year as did the social impact assessment. Further stakeholder meetings have been confirmed for June.
The Nolans EIS is progressing to schedule and the Company looks forward to providing further updates on achieving key DFS milestones.
