The price of copper in New York dropped below $2.00 per pound. At the New York Mercantile Exchange’s COMEX division, copper for December delivery fell as low as $1.9920 a pound, before settling at $2.007 a pound, down more than 5 per cent from previous session’s closing. At this level, current copper prices are on par with December 1999 levels.
