American Vanadium Extends Closing of Financing, Appoints Brett Whalen as Chairman of the Board

American Vanadium Corp. (TSXV:AVC,OTCQX:AVCVF) has appointed Brett Whalen as its non-executive chairman of the board of directors. Mr. Whalen is currently vice president at Dundee Corporation (TSX:DC.A) American Vanadium’s largest shareholder. American Vanadium has also extended the second tranche of its non-brokered private placement, and expects the private placement to close close to May 8 2014.

Mr. Whalen earned an Honours B.A. in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1998 and holds a CFA designation. Previously, he was an investment banker holding senior positions at Dundee Capital Markets, Clarus Securities Inc. and Jacob Securities Inc.
