Nemaska Lithium Inc. (TSXV:NMX) announced that the Quebec Review Committee will hold its public hearings on the company’s Whabouchi mine project on March 30, 2015 in the Cree Community of Nemaska and on April 1, 2015 in Chibougamau, Quebec.

As quoted in the press release:

At the hearings, residents will have an opportunity to voice their views on the project’s impact to the local environment. The COMEX consultation is the final step before making the recommendation to the Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and The Fight Against Climate Change to issue the general certificate of authorization required to build and operate the Whabouchi Mine.

Guy Bourassa, president and CEO of Nemaska, stated:

We have had a very positive experience in working with our Cree partners to date and I look forward to the completion of the COMEX hearings and moving forward with the project permitting. This mine will mean the creation of about 125 jobs in the area. We have already completed a training course for heavy equipment operators with the local Cree and I expect these courses to continue as we get closer to production. Maximum employment of the Cree at the mine is our stated goal for this project.
