Minmetals Says Unlikely to Extend Century Zinc Mine

Reuters Africa reports that on Tuesday, Minmetals Resources (HKG:1208) plans not to extend the life of the Century zinc mine in Australia beyond mid-2015.

The market news is quoted as saying:

Closure of the mine would remove about 15 times the 35,500 tonnes of zinc estimated by the International Lead & Zinc Study Group to be in surplus in January.
