Reuters reported that Compania Minera Milpo, a polymetallic mining company controlled by Brazil’s Votorantim Group, may become Peru’s biggest zinc producer in 2015.

Reuters reported that Compania Minera Milpo, a polymetallic mining company controlled by Brazil’s Votorantim Group, may become Peru’s biggest zinc producer in 2015. The company’s output is set to hit 280,000 to 290,000 tonnes for the year.
As quoted in the market news:

Victor Gobitz added that he expects the government to approve Milpo’s proposed plan to develop Michiquillay, an exploratory copper concession that Anglo American withdrew from last year.
If other countries also signal interest in Michiquillay, state tendering agency Proinversion would open formal bidding.
Michiquillay, in Peru’s northern Cajamarca region, would likely produce 187 000 t of copper per year, according to a government estimate. The deposit has triggered protests from local communities in the past.
