    Mechel Announces Nickel Sales 5 Percent Down

    Platts reported Mechel (NYSE:MTL) says its nickel sales for the first half of 2012 are down five percent.

    Platts reported Mechel (NYSE:MTL) says its nickel sales for the first half of 2012 are down five percent.

    As quoted in the market news:

    Russian mining and steel group Mechel said Tuesday that nickel product sales in the first half of 2012 were down 5% at 8,000 mt from 8,400 mt in the same period last year.

    Mechel’s H1 nickel product sales to its own enterprises were down 67% at 1,000 mt from 3,000 mt in H1 2011.

    The company’s ferrosilicon sales were also lower, with a 24% drop in H1.
