Indonesia: Government Tells Small Miners to Partner with Smelters

Mining Weekly reported an Indonesian government official has suggested small base metals miners team up with larger smelters to avoid a coming ban on raw exports including nickel in the island nation.

As quoted in the market news:

Indonesia plans to ban exports of some unprocessed metals from 2014 – including copper, gold, nickel and tin – in a move to push firms to invest in local smelting plants and to gain greater value from exports of finished metals.
