Burundi to Raise Power Tariffs, Eyes Nickel Output

Mining Weekly reports Burundi plans to raise electricity bills for consumers to help raise funds for power generators needed to export more nickel.

The market news is quoted as saying,

Officials say it requires an additional 270 MW in the next five years to meet a 13 percent growth a year in demand for electricity by households and to start exploration of nickel reserves estimated at 4.2-million tons.
