Mining Weekly reported that the Liberian Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted Tawana Resources (ASX:TAW,JSE:TAW) approval for the scoping study and terms of reference for an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) for its Mofe Creek iron ore project.
Tawana Resources (ASX:TAW,JSE:TAW) announced that the Liberian Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted approval for the scoping study and terms of reference for an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) for its Mofe Creek iron ore project.
As quoted in the press release:
This approval represents a key step forward in the ESIA process, and forms part of Tawana’s commitment to obtaining an Environmental Permit and Mining Licence for the Project. The approval represents the culmination of over a year’s technical and geological field work in conjunction with community and stakeholder consultative work within the Project area.
Wayne Richards, executive chairman and CEO of Tawana, commented:
We recognize that securing the permits necessary for the establishment of operations at Mofe Creek is critical to our commitment to rapidly advance the Project towards development. Obtaining this latest approval from the EPA, again in such a short time-frame, marks another important step forward in the overall permitting process.
