Mining Weekly reported London Mining (LSE:LOND) has transitioned from a developer in Sierra Leone to a producer at its iron ore project.

As quoted in the market news:

The company’s focus in 2011 fell chiefly on Marampa after drilling revealed a far larger, higher-grade resource than originally thought, upgrading it to 1 078-million tons.

The mine’s 1.5-million-ton-a-year processing plant, which came into operation in the fourth quarter of last year, is set to evolve into a five-million-ton-a-year plant by 2014, following the discovery of the bulkier orebody and further optimisation of the plant. Expan-sion activities are currently under- way.
